Sasmitaloka Soedirman Museum



The Great Commander Sasmitaloka Museum of General Sudirman is the history museum with the several collection of his struggle. The word “Sasmitaloka” was from Javanese language, Sasmita which is reminder or memories, and Loka means place. Therefore Sasmitaloka Museum is the place where the museum collects the objects of General Sudirman, as the place to commemorate the dedication, sacrifice and struggle of the Great General Sudirman.

At the time of the Dutch East Indies, the building was used as the official residence of Mr. Wijnchenk, a financial officer Pura Paku Alaman. During the Japanese occupation, the house was emptied and furniture confiscated. After Indonesia's independence, during the three months, it was used as the Headquarters Company "Tukul" Battalion. On 18 December 1945 until 19 December 1948, it was used as the residence of General Sudirman, after he was inaugurated as the People's Security Army Commander.

During the Dutch Military Aggression II, the building was used as a headquarters "informatie Geheimen Brigade T" of the Dutch army. After the recognition of Indonesian sovereignty in December 27, 1949, it was used as a military command headquarters city of Yogyakarta  as the Dormitory of Infantry Regiment XIII and people who have disability problem.

Since June 17, 1968 until August 30, 1982, the building is used as the Army Museum. It has been deemed (not representative) for the museum occupies on a new building at the headquarters of Korem 072/Pamungkas on Jl. Jend. Sudirman 76 and it is used as a memorial museum "Sasmitaloka Pangliam Great General Sudirman, Army Chief of Staff by Decree No..: Skep/574/VII/1982".

On August 30, 1982, in conjunction with the inauguration of the Wiratama Dharma Army Center Museum, also inaugurated Sasmita Loka Museum Pangsar General Sudirman was the Army Chief of Staff Gen. Poniman.


CHAMBERS INSIDE THE MUSEUM
1. Living Room
This chamber is the place where Mr. Sudirman accepting his guess, from functionary to family guest’s.  In this space exhibited two chandelier and two sets of tables and chairs that repose muton shaped rugs.
2. Lounge
Besides living room, this room is used as a place for his foster family. The lounge is used also used to discuss about the struggle of Indonesia. Collections on display like old radio, paintings, crockery and set tables and chairs and a chandelier.
3. Workroom
The tasks and set the policies TNI used this place as his work. 
Exhibited in this space:
a. A samurai sword when stroked daidancho MAP.
b. Telephone, work desk chair, desk chairs.
c. Replica dagger, which always accompanies the guerrilla war.
d. Weapons Lee Enfeilld (LE), Vickers dam submachine gun.
e. Charter Awards and honors bestowed government.
4. Mr. Sudirman’s bedroom
This room showed where Mr. Sudirman rest and do his prayers. In this room exhibited a set of bed, closet , and his praying place. In addition there is a collection of General Sudirman’s candle statue sitting complete with coats, headbands and footwear which have been used by him. There is also the wife used a sewing machine. Complementary in this room there is a painting of his wife, Sudirman use traditional Javanese clothes.
5. The room of Mr. Sudirman’s kids
His marriage with a girl named Siti Alfiah endowed nine children. Room adjacent to the master bedroom there is a collection of bedding used Pangsar sons and daughters.
6. Pooling Booth
When Mr. Sudirman lived in this building, this building is also used as his secretariat workplace. Collection of this room closely related to the election office of People's Security Army Commander, such as tables and chairs that Lieutenant Colonel used to proposed Colonel Sudirman as the People’s Army in front of Urip Sumoharjo and Gatot Subroto. Other collection in this room is the Members of Army Leaders Pledge that have been said by Mr. Sudirman
7. Palagan Ambarawa Chamber
The Ambarawa battle between TKR and the soldier of Indonesia to fight the imperialize in the commend of Mr. Sudirman successfully repel allied forces from the town of Magelang. As evidence of the battle Ambarawa a firearm, mockups and battle maps Ambarawa exhibited in this space. In walls they were also displaying the paintings of the functionary people of Indonesia.
8. The chamber of Panti Rapih Hospital
The collection of this room tells about the time when General Sudirman got sick in year 1948. A literature and a picture showed that General Sudirman must be operated at that time. In this room there were also tables, chair, and a diorama when guerrilla warfare.
9. Vehicle exhibit room
When traveling Milai guerrilla war from the city of Yogyakarta to Kediri, East Java General Sudirman never used carts, cars, and carried on a stretcher. The travel with his carts is not pulled by horse, but his own bodyguards, and when he returned from a guerrilla war on June 10, 1949 General Sudirman was picked up by an American official vehicles.
10. Mountain Kidul and Sobo’s exhibit room
As lead guerrilla Sudirman Semanu ever stopover in the area, district and regional Gunungkidul Sobo, Pacitan remaining districts. It was there that Gen.. Sudirman got Caraka (messenger) of Lieutenant Colonel. Suharto who reported plans General Offensive March 1, 1949. Collections on display are tools which ever used by general Sudirman
11. Diorama exhibit room
In this room there is three parts of room which is:
- The first diorama describes the struggle when the Dutch launched a second aggression on December 19, 1948.
- The second diorama illustrates the situation of Jenderl Sudirman implement and lead a guerrilla.
- The third diorama describes the situation during the Sudirman perform his duties as Commander in a guerrilla headquarters Sobo, Pacitan. Also exhibited a litter, sticks and guerrilla route maps.
12. Personal collection exhibit room
This exhibit room shows the personal belongings to General Sudirman that he used such as; coats, headbands, clothing Officer Guide, sleepwear, shoes, bags.
13. Document exhibit room

The space is filled with a bio-General Sudirman, the photos while he served as Commander, guerrilla and sorrow at the departure and burial of the Great General Sudirman at the Heroes Cemetery Kusuma State, handwritten letters President Ir. Sukarno to General Sudirman, handwritten letter to his brother Sudirman Moch. Samingan and several collections of Inna Garuda Hotel, Yogyakarta such as clothing and uniform completeness've used General Sudirman.
