Batik Museum



This museum is owned and managed independently by couples, Hadi and Dewi Nugroho for approximately 28 years. Batik collections in this Museum are very complete. Different types of batik from various regions in Indonesia are there: from Batik Yogyakarta, Indramayu, to other Indonesian Batik craftsmen in certain areas. The collection includes long cloth, gloves and so on, which until now has reached the number of 400 pieces of batik cloths and some equipments. The oldest batik has worked during the 1700's.

Apart from the collection of batik, this museum holds various collections of hand embroidery. Hand embroidery is very diverse collection in this museum. Even it has to get an award from MURI on Embroidery side work, the fabric batik is measuring 90 x 400 cm². A year later, the museum was awarded a plaque from the same institution as the initiator of the establishment of the first Embroidery Museum in Indonesia.

The museum routine activity is a permanent exhibition in the museum. Access to the location is also very convenient because it is located in the city center close to the bridge Lempuyangan. Roads and extensive parking location makes it easy to visit the museum with all kinds of transportation ranging from motorcycles to four-wheeled vehicles. In addition, if you are lucky, visitors can see the process of making batik at this museum.
