Affandi Museum




Affandi Museum is located on Jalan Raya Yogyakarta-Solo, or rather the west bank of Gajah Wong, provides an opportunity for you to track the entire meaning of life Affandi. You can see the great works of the maestro during his life, the work of other painters who close with him, transportation have wore before, inhabited-house by a studio (now it used to nurture the children's painting talent.

The museum consists of 3 parts of the galleries: The beginning of the tour, entrance ticket is needed for Gallery 1. Gallery 1 was personally opened by Affandi since 1962 and inaugurated in 1974. It contains a number of early Affandi's works until the end of his life. The paintings are generally in the form of sketches and anatomy masterpieces. They are placed in two arrays, on the bottom and the elongated curve. In addition, you can see a number of valuable items during Affandi life. At the end of the room, you can see the car Gallan Colt 1976 which has modified into greenish yellow that resembles the shape of a fish. There is also an old-fashioned bicycle that looks shiny. You can also see his works in the form of anatomy sculpture of his self-portrait with his daughter, Kartika.

Towards Gallery 2, you can see a number of Affandi's painters, both beginners and seniors, in the museum. This gallery was inaugurated in 1988 consists of two floors that can be seen from a different perspective. The first floor contains many abstract paintings, while the second floor contains realist-firmness paintings. 

Gallery 3 is built with a roof of a banana midrib curve-shaped lines. This multifunctional gallery consist of three floors: first floor serves an exhibition space as well as "Studio Gajah Wong", a place for children to hone the painting talent, second floor as space maintenance and repaired-painting, while the basement as collection of paintings shop. Not far from the Gallery 3, there is a tower that can be used to sight-seeing. You can see the whole panorama of the museum and Gajah Wong river to the bustle of highway. Get off and walk to the west of the tower, you can see the unique architecture that has used by Affandi to live with his family.

The house was built with stage concept and was made by the beams and wood poles. Single roofs are made from banana leaves and the stem-shaped curve. Recently, the downstairs of the house are now used as an attic-cafe at where sale food and drink for visitors, while the upper of boat-house as Affandi's private room.

At the left of the house, there is a cart that now uses as a mosque. The cart is one of the complementary elements from Affandi which compounds as a resting place of Affandi's wife, Maryati. Initially, Maryati wanted a caravan that was widely used as a temporary residence for Americans. Affandi approved that concept of the building, but with a more form-Meng Indonesia, the carts.

Before going home, you can stop at the grave of maestro who died in May 23, 1990, between Gallery 1 and 2. Affandi's house is adjacent to his wife's house. The house yard is decorated by timeless trees and rosettes.
